New suppliers will be able to apply for your supply to be transferred on the day after your Price Review Date. Your contract and prices will remain unchanged until the end of your Fixed Term Period. To end your contract early you will need to pay an Early Termination Fee which you can find below.

In your initial Fixed Term Period (with less than 30 days before end)

Early Termination Fee - For Fixed for business and Business Connect

If you choose to end your contract early, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee to cover the cost of your leftover energy. This forms part of your Terms and Conditions (PDF) with us.

How is the Early Termination Fee calculated?

We apply a charge per unit to the amount of energy (kWh) we estimate you would have used over your whole fixed term (not just what is left). We get this amount by multiplying your estimated annual consumption (EAC) in our system by your contract length (whole years).

The charge per unit is used to cover the potential cost of selling back any leftover energy we bought for you. We’ve fixed this as one charge for your whole contract term (multiplied by your EAC and contract length).

When you give your notice, we’ll ask you for a meter reading so that we can be sure your EAC is as up to date and accurate as possible.

How much is the Early Termination fee?

If you’d like to know exactly how much your fee will be and make a payment to leave your Fixed Term early.

Please call us on 0333 200 5103(1) Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.

Please note from the date you notify us that you wish to end your Agreement with us that you will continue to be supplied Extended Supply Prices until you change supplier or agree to a new contract. If you have an outstanding balance (including an Early Termination Fee) on your account, we may object to you transferring to a new supplier until this has been paid.

If you choose to end your contract early, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee. This forms part of your Terms and Conditions (PDF) with us if you've signed a contract on or after 1 March 2016.

How is the Early Termination Fee calculated?

We have reviewed our Early Termination Fees to ensure it's fair for our customers. We have now included variable costs such as:

  • The cost of selling back the unused energy bought, which will vary depending on the customers consumption and remaining contract term
  • A percentage of the bill the customer would have paid if they remained with EDF Energy, plus a 5% charge if the contract was agreed directly or 10% if the contract was agreed via a TPI (Broker)  to cover additional servicing costs
